This is a guide to the way you refine at the Doctor posted by Sa7er on PDO Forum.

The Doctor has a new refine skill that allows players to upgrade their crafting materials, stats, and even their equipements.
Talk to the Doctor found in any city then click on the refine button.



You will notice that there are two kind of synthesis at the top of the window:
  1. Material Synthesis (Common Synthesis and Special synthesis)
  2. Equipmenet Dismantling




Material Synthesis:
This option allows you to upgrade White materials to Blue and/or Blue to Green.
Common synthesis:
refines four White materials to a one Blue material or four Blue materials to one Green material with upgraded stats. The material must be the same level and the same name, you can not mix different type of materials.



Special Synthesis: refines one White material to a blue improved one using a Sublimation stone from PP store (cost 2PP). Put your mat and stone into the wheel then refine.
Note: special synthesis can only refine white materials into a blue one , you can not refine blue to green using special synthesis for that you need four blue mats using common synthesis.







Equipmenet Dismantling:
This option allows you to dismantle equipmenet into different stuff. To do this talk to the Doctor and click on the refine button, at the top select "Equipmenet Dismantling," now put a piece of equipment in the center and click OK.
There are three different results:
  1. The most common result is a damaged spar which means your dismantling failed and that outcome is useless piece of junk, sell it to the NPC.
  2. The next most common result is a Spar of (some element) to be exchanged for a reward from Mister Omniscient in Phoenix Village.
  3. The least common result is a General Crafting Formula of different types. These are used to enhancing your equiptment.
Note: The success rate of getting formulas are very low!











Spars:



There are many different types of Spar: Wind, Lake, Heaven, Thunder, Fire, Water and Mountain.

When you dismantle an item at the Doctor you will sometimes gain Spar or a certain element. These Spars can be turned in Mister Omniscent in Phoenix Village.
Mister Omniscent will reward you will experience, major magic, gold or reputation. -(rep seems to be extremely rare)

Here's a list I have collected so far:
  1. Spar of Earth = 6,400 Major Magic Points
  2. Spar of Fire = 2,000 xp or 800 Gold
  3. Spar of Heaven = 500 xp or 10 rep
  4. Spar of Lake = 1,000 xp or 100 Major Magic Points
  5. Spar of Mountain = 32,000 xp
  6. Spar of Thunder = 4,000 xp or 400 Major Magic Points
  7. Spar of Wind = 8,000 xp
  8. Spar of Water = 16,000 xp




Formulas:

When you dismantle an item at the Doctor you will sometimes gain a forumla. Formulas are used to strengthen your gear.
There are different formulas: weaponsmith, armorcrafting, leathworking, and jewelery. It's pretty obvious which forumla is used for which gear.
There are also two type of formulas: General and For Suits.

General Formulas:
These are used for your everyday gear, any type of basic gear.

For Suits Formulas:
These are for title suits and reputation gear, and basically any other type of suit gear.

To use just right click on the formula and place the item in the center you want to enhance. Remember, you need to have the correct formula for your gear.
Also you will need the correct level forumla to enhance your gear. So if you have already enhanced your item once and want to do it again you will need a level 2 formula, a third time you will need a level 3 formula and so on.
